Dylan and Blaire met at UBC while pursuing their Master of Architecture degrees and quickly bonded over their shared passions for design, art, and the outdoors. Despite their differences—Blaire a prairie girl and Dylan an island boy—their connection blossomed into a strong partnership. Dylan proposed at Blaire's family cabin in the Shuswap during a morning walk to a waterfall, with her parents secretly preparing a celebratory champagne breakfast. For their wedding, they chose a moody Pacific Northwest fairytale theme at Gowlland Harbour Resort on Quadra Island, creating a summer camp-like weekend for their guests. Blaire found her perfect dress, a whimsical blend of vintage and modern, which made her feel confident and embraced her true self.

Dylan and I met in graduate school at UBC when we were both completing our Master of Architecture degrees. We were immediately drawn to each other even though we are the opposites in so many ways (prairie girl meets island boy). We bonded over a shared love of design, art, architecture, the outdoors, cooking and food, and have a deep respect and admiration for each other as creative people.

We were visiting my family cabin in the Shuswap, and Dylan proposed on our morning walk to a nearby waterfall. He told my parents that he was going to propose before we left for our walk and when we got back to the cabin they had a big champagne breakfast ready for us. It was perfect.

We leaned into a moody PNW fairytale vibe, and wanted to have an intimate day that didn't feel overly curated.

We were married at Gowlland Harbour Resort on Quadra Island. We live in Seattle and our family and friends are scattered all across Canada and the USA, and we wanted a venue that could bring everyone together for multiple days. We had the whole resort to ourselves and most of our guests were able to stay on site, giving the weekend a "summer camp" feel.

My dress ended up being nothing like what I expected it would be, but the minute I tried it on I knew it was the one. I felt comfortable and confident in it and knew I would be able to spend a full day in it and still not want to take it off. I loved how whimsical and dreamy it was, and the dress had a vintage feel to it, but still modern. It was also really important to me that I loved myself in the dress in the exact way that I was - that feeling good wasn't dependent on my body changing in any way.

Definitely our ceremony. My sister married us, and having the chance to say our vows in front of our friends and family was so much more meaningful than I could have anticipated. I was SO excited to marry Dylan, and you can see the emotions all over our faces.

Decide what really matters to you, and work with vendors that you can trust. We ended up having a smaller vendor team in order to invest more into the people that we worked with. I was able to relax on the day knowing that they were performing at a high level and I was not spread as thinly or trying to micromanage everyone.
